Noah

I didn't expect to like this movie. I certainly didn't expect to be excited by it. The trailer made it seem, for all its CGI, boring and mediocre. The same old garbage.

But then I didn't know that this was an ecological parable. I didn't know that every moment of this movie would effortlessly manipulate the symbolic meaning of its source material. I didn't know that it would channel the extra-Biblical writings of the Essenes yet share more in common with the Illiad than say Leviticus. I didn't know that this movie would be violent as fuck. I didn't know there were would be rock angels, and that those rock angels would be for mankind both a Prometheus and a Pandora.

At the present moment I want all Hollywood blockbuster CGI action-adventure dramas to be Noah. This is about something. It's a just-so story for adults and a call for change at the same time that it is a story of war and love and survival. I'm kinda in a little bit of love.
